100 Geographies Exhibition

Duration: September - December 2016

A three month long exhibition at the Stellenbosch University Museum, featuring 44 artists, 100 artworks and 40 geographic themes.

Commissioned by the Society of South African Geographers, to celebrate a century of geography teaching and research at university level in South Africa. The academic curators for the exhibition were Professors Ronnie Donaldson and Gustav Visser.

Participating artists included: Zyma Amien, Dan Halter, Lionel Smit, Emma Willemse, Kai Losgott, Pauline Gutter, Vincent Bezuidenhout, Jaco van Schalkwyk, Strijdom van der Merwe, Vulindlela Nyoni, Ingrid Winterbach, Elizabeth Miller-Vermeulen, Stephen Rosin, Ashley Walters, Cobus van Bosch, Willie Bester and Henk Serfontein.

An exhibition catalogue, compiled by Elizabeth Miller-Vermeulen and Professor Ronnie Donaldson, was published to coincide with the exhibition. The publication featured exhibited artworks, extracts from geographic research (40 themes) and quotations from artist's statements.
