Newest Work

A recent development in the “Figures in a Landscape” series, is towards a more specific storyline. The titles allude to narratives. Strange readings are supported by the paintings but not necessarily explained by it, allowing the viewer self-interpretation of unanswered questions.

Landscapes

This ever expanding body of work consists of small acrylic paintings, in earthy tones with shades of blue, that play with contrast and gradients to create atmospheric scenes. When viewing the paintings, there is a sense of being drawn in and viewers become part of a vaguely familiar environment.

Century Curation Projects

A selection from 100 years in front covers, black and white photographs from the archives, illustrations and advertisements were exhibited. Captions, compiled by the Centenary editor, Heléne Booyens, informed the images.

"Forward? Forward! Forward…"

Elizabeth was commissioned to co-curate a five month long art exhibition with Ulrich Wolff from the Stellenbosch University Museum as part of their 100 year celebrations.

This Centenary exhibition for the University is the result of an open call for artists to propose artworks that reimagine the future of higher education in Africa and at the University in Stellenbosch. More than 250 proposals were received from artists in countries as far as India and Germany. A panel then selected artworks to exhibit, resulting in a group of more than sixty artists.See more of this installation
